The herbarium is part of, and administered by, the School of Natural Sciences at Unitec

Functions

To provide reference material for teaching in resource and environmental management, horticulture and landscape programmes.  To support research in these areas.

Scope of Collections

Cultivated and adventive plants with a particular focus on amenity plants, named cultivars, crop plants and weeds.  The indigenous flora is also collected with particular emphasis on the Auckland region.  Lichens are a focus, with collections mainly from the upper North Island.

Seeds samples c. 120, some plant fossils, reference collection of spores of the New Zealand ferns and fern allies (M. F. Large).
